Ramblings of a weary soul...

It's been two years since I last posted anything in this blog. A lot of things have happened since the last time I posted. I lost two persons close to my heart due to stroke, my dad and my uncle, in a span of two months in 2015. I had to go on awol from law school, and had to play catch up once I decided to return.

People say that I have a strong personality, and that they admire my resolve and will to move on, despite the challenges I have faced. But lately, I find myself doubting each decision I have made since 2013. The phrase 'is it worth it?' had been a recurring thought whenever I go to school.

How can a person remain strong, when the source of their strength has been taken from them unexpectedly? I may seem confident and full of encouraging words, but then I realized, that the one who needed the encouragement the most is myself.

I miss you so much, Dad. Please lend me your strength once more. I need to make a decision. Please give me your guidance, Lord.

Foodie Review: Clawdaddy SM Mall of Asia

I got curious when I saw their promo on Metrodeal so I bought two vouchers worth 1k each for half the price. Reservation was a bit difficult because no one was answering their listed landline. A quick google search gave me their FB page where they wrote an alternative CP number because their landline was broken or something.

Reservation was fast and easy after I got the correct number. A little suggestion though, please change the number to call in your promo vouchers as well if it's not too much to ask. Thank you.

Now on to the place. The place is huge, I kinda liked the area they placed us because the music's not too loud, but our table was a little cramped for three people who ordered six different dishes. Given the size of their plates, I think my parents and I were kind of subconciously eating fast because we were worried where they would be placing the other dishes. But I guess the crew knew that the waiting time for each dish or two would be long so they weren't as worried as we were. I'll probably keep that in mind next time.

On the service, it was a bit slow compared to other restaurants in SM MOA i've been to. It was probably due to the large crowd eating in our area or they were understaffed. As i've mentioned earlier, the waiting time for one or two dishes that we ordered took around 10 to 15 minutes. They don't give suggestions as to what would be good to try on their menu. I would have loved to try what their bestsellers were.

We ordered 6 dishes: Clam Chowder Soup, Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing, Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce, Grilled Veggie Pizza, Kansas City Ribs and Blackened Salmon.

Clam Chowder Soup (P165)
Clam Chowder Soup (P165) - It was tasty and plus points that it was served hot (not lukewarm as other restaurants do when it's peak hours), just right for the chilly weather. I was so glad we all opted to have an order each, or i'd be more than likely eyeing my parents' soup bowls because the waitress said it was big enough for two. Negative points were it was served on a soup bowl instead of the bread bowl that the menu described it would be.

Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing (P385)
Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing (P385) - The serving said it was good for 3 to 4 persons, but in my opinion it was good enough for 5 to 6 people to share - if they didn't like greens. The sweet basil vignairette was a great complement to the sweet mango bits, cruotons, tomatoes and romaine lettuce. The tuna was a little bland and had a rubbery texture - might be a little overcooked. I only wish that they poured more vignairette on it, then it would have been perfect.

Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce (P195)

Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce (P195) - You could never go wrong with chesse, especially with something as tasty as mozarella - until you envelope it in too much bland breading that overpowers the cheesy filling. I was looking forward to this dish the most as I love cheese, but sadly this disappointed me.

Grilled Veggie Pizza (P295 or P285, can't remember, sorry!)
Grilled Veggie Pizza (P295 or P285, can't remember, sorry!) - It didn't taste like eating veggies on a thin crust pizza dough at all! Enough said, this was a definite win for me

Kansas City Ribs (P335)
Kansas City Ribs (P335) - Served with chili (that's what my Dad said) java rice and slightly sour coleslaw (according to my parents). The serving size was huge, I ended up picking some meat off my Dad's plate. The meat was tender, juicy, tasty and melts in the mouth. This made me look forward to ordering their Signature Baby Back Ribs on my next visit.

Blackened Salmon (P495)
Blackened Salmon (P495) - Served with a side dish of Caesar Salad and lemon/olive oil dip (from what it looks like, it's yellow and I could smell/taste the olive oil, not the lemon though, it wasn't sour at all). The first thing I noticed was that the plate was huge but the salmon took up little space. I should not have trusted the pic on the menu. It was worth the price though because the salmon was mildly salted and grilled to perfection. It wasn't rubbery at all, it was juicy and tender. The Caesar salad was a great side dish, just the right amount of sourness from the dressing and saltiness from the bacon to wash away the salmon's aftertaste. I only wish the salmon slice was bigger.

Overall, it was an okay experience. The price might not be within the regular average joe's daily food spending budget but it'll be money spent on good food when you feel like discovering a new food establishment to bond with your friends and family with.

Or a restaurant to go to for that monthly date. ;)

December 2014, time flies...

It's been a year and a half since I started law school. Balancing working and studying had been hectic and kept me from blogging and writing fanfictions and original fiction. It's been an struggle but I find myself getting the hang of things. Some of my classmates blog their digested version of the cases we have tackled in class in their blogs. This made me think, why not do it as well? It'll keep my blogs updated and could help other working law students as well.

I think I'm quite confident with my analysis and summarizing skills. Though i'll probably put a big disclaimer like: "Use as reference at your own risk" or something.

Oh well, this the Christmas season and for some reason I don't feel christmassy yet.

But for what it's worth, Happy Holidays!

It’s June, baby!

I can’t believe we’re halfway through the year. I won’t be surprised if I wake up one day to realize that it’s the Christmas season once more.

Last May was an eventful month for me. I passed the PUP College of Law entrance examinations, which means that starting June 17, I’m officially going back to school. I’m a little nervous as it’s been eight years since I’ve been considered a student. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Wish me luck!

How’s everyone’s week so far?

Hope you all have a fun and blessed weekend. (“,)

THEFACESHOP Addiction

I’m not a vain person. I could care less about make ups and beauty rituals. I just use Alyssa Ashley as body skin moisturizer and sometimes use St. Ives Apricot scrub or Celeteque water based moisturizer for my face. However, when I turned thirty last year, I realized how important a skin regimen is. Especially when I am seriously going to enroll in law school.

I used to tease my friend, Shayne (In My Own World, shanen10.blogspot.com), that she is a bad influence when she introduced THEFACESHOP products to me. I’m a sucker for good, quality products and I will not contest how good this shop’s wares are. The items are reasonably priced, way cheaper than Etude’s and it doesn’t hurt that the endorser was from my first fave Korean boyband, SS501.

It’s convenient as well since my old lotion, Alyssa Ashley is so hard to buy. I had to ask my Aunt who used to work in Dubai to send me a big bottle when my supply’s almost a third full. There are a lot of THEFACESHOP outlets in the metro so I can just go to one when I have the time.

I have three items that I tried and are loving at the moment. The first is Jeju Orange Pure Water Facial Mist. Priced at two hundred fifty pesos (P250.00) for a seventy milliliter (70 ml) bottle, this handy product does wonders to one’s face. It’s a moisturizer and provides an instant relief from the hot weather.

The second item is the EAU de L’AME Perfumed Body Milk. It costs seven hundred ninety five pesos (P795.00) per two hundred thirty milliliter (230 ml) bottle. It takes moisturizing seriously and smells really great. I think it has a cooling agent in the ingredients because no matter how hot my room was, whenever I apply the lotion to my skin it still feels cool. It also has a two counterparts, a body scrub and a body wash. I’d like to get my hands on these two items when I have extra money to spare.

The latest and newest item I bought was the Green Tea Body Perfume Mist. I was looking for the mist version of my lotion but unfortunately, it doesn’t have one so I just settled for a product whose scent closely resembles my lotion. This item costs four hundred twenty five pesos (P425.00) per one hundred five milliliter (105 ml) bottle. Not bad eh? And I’m telling you, it freaking works! We spent almost an hour inside Pepper Lunch and came out smelling like the menu. Sprayed some of the mist on my clothes and voila! My cousins all agreed it was a good purchase as they all used my perfume to mask the smell of sizzling steak that clung to their clothes.

Just in case you wanted to see how the products look like, here’s a picture.

And here’s how we looked like yesterday.

Ain’t it obvious from our smiles that we love to eat?

On that note, I wish everyone a great and stress free Sunday.

Talk to you later!

Of entrance exams and elections…

I took the entrance exam for PUP College of Law in Sta. Mesa last May 11, 2013. I was part of the third batch of hopeful examinees. We were advised at the start of the exam that we were all scheduled for the interview at 12nn on May 18, 2013. First come, first served basis. I guess that made sense since there were like forty (40) slots remaining for the first semester. Being punctual would help big time I guess since it would show how determined you are to get that coveted spot.

Would it be too much if I arrive for the interview an hour early? Or would that be weird? Anyway, I hope that they would still consider me for enrollment even if I don’t arrive for the interview early. *fingers crossed*

On a more serious note, I just finished casting my vote for our midterm Senatorial and Local election. Our precinct was one of those who have low voters turn out so it didn’t take me and my sis more than fifteen minutes to cast our votes. Though the PCOS machine returned my ballot twice, lol!

I guess the machine didn’t like who I voted for, teehee!

So yeah, that’s how my weekend and Monday was so far. Oh, and it’s raining right now, lucky! The temperature’s been nearing the forties (in Celsius) for the past few days and weeks so this weather change’s very much welcome. Smile

How’s everyone’s day so far?

Decisions, decisions...

After seven years, I have finally decided to pursue a degree in law. Believe me, it was not an easy decision to make. There were a lot of things to consider since I am currently working and live south of the Metro (Cavite). Most of the good law schools are located in Manila and travel would take a toll on my body (I'm in my early thirties, need to start being extra cautious about my health).

So after a lot of deliberations and consultations, I've finally decided on taking the entrance exams for these two schools: PUP College of Law and FEU Institute of Law.

I did consider the MBA-JD program of DLSU and FEU. Who wouldn't say yes to a double degree in five years right? Unfortunately, I don't have the capacity to shell out 150k for the yearly tuition (the program's tri-sem).

I hope that I get to pass the PUPCLEE as the tuition's really low compared to FEU. I'm a product of an SUC for my pre-law so I know how good the professors are in an SUC setting. Plus the low tuition is a great bonus as well.

Wish me luck!

I just want to say hi! I've been busy these past few months so I didn't have a chance to update my blog.

I hope everyone's doing great.

taking a break...

...from writing for a moment. I need to finish this 15k word story by tomorrow night. The deadline is one week from posting, which in my case is on the 1st of September, US CST time (so that'll be around 1pm Manila time on September 2). I'm currently at 6344 words and counting. I'm confident i'll be able to reach the required word count before noon tomorrow. The mods did say they just need the final draft, not the edited version, so whatever I finish writing, i'll be sending over, to heck with the grammar and spelling mistakes.

Okay, so I guess i'm done with my break now.

Back to writing. Ta!

shopping is tiring...

I never realized how tiring and fun shopping could be until I did it again today. The thrill of scouting shops to find the right pieces of clothing to help create the perfect outfit... The frustration of finding a style you like only to realize the color's not right... And finally scoring the last piece of accessory to complete the ensemble. Man! The things I do for my cousin's wedding! And there are still a few revisions that needs to be done on the dress and the hat... Oh well! Vanity does have a price. It was a good thing the Chris (clover71) was such a great shopping companion. *hugs Chris* But I am dead tired and sleepy. So i'm gonna go to bed and take a nap. Ttyl!

tired and sleepy...

I'm on the night shift today and I am so sleepy right now (eventhough I've slept all morning and afternoon *face palm*). I think my body's no longer used to this shift, but dang! This is where the money's at lol!

I've been discovering a lot of mobile apps that allows me to post to all my blogs simultaneously. However, some of these apps only works using a wifi connection. Just my luck that our country is not that wifi connected yet (except in certain areas which I do not frequent).

And it sucks 'coz my phone unit is a Nokia unit with a Symbian 60 5th edition OS. There aren't a lot of apps that are being developed for this OS nowadays. I am seriously considering buying another unit or availing one from my postpaid mobile network when my contract ends. Ugh, I guess I would have to continue the contract again. However, I am torn between getting an Android phone or another Nokia model. I heard that Android is a good OS, but my cousins are telling me that I should just get an Iphone. So now I am utterly confused. *head desk*

Worse comes to worse, i'll just buy myself a netbook, one that I can bring anywhere. Or an Ipod touch, yeah, probably that.

Alright, Ian (a co-worker of mine) is bugging Drew (another co-worker) of mine to go to Starbucks. I guess i'll join them to buy some coffee and go on a cigarette break. Since I should be working and not blogging. Lol!

Of jobs, headaches and klaine...

My online tutorial classes are done for the day, i'm 200 bucks richer but my head hurts now. I'm back in bed, trying to sleep after drinking medicine for the headche. I'm thankful it's not migraine or I won't be able to even look at my mobile phone's screen. Currently tapping into our house's wifi network. I thank whoever intoduced wifi into mobile phones. He/she/they are a genius!

Anyone watched the latest episode of Glee? It was great! For someone who only watches the Klaine scenes in every episode (sorry, not an avid fan of the show, just the pair), I was glued to my seat during the whole episode! I have to say "Great job!" to the whole cast and to Kurt and Blaine: "You guys rock my world!"

Er... after Draco, Harry and my other fandom ships that is.

On a lighter note, I just finished listening to Tom Felton's latest single "Hawaii". The song's lyrics, beat and tune are quite catchy. He may not have David Archuleta's singing voice but he does know how to hit the right notes and boy can he compose a good song! I think I fell in love with Tom Felton a little more... *swoons*

Alright... Time to sleep, I can feel the medicine kicking in. Off to lalaland for me... Nighty night to those in the same time zone as me and are getting ready to go to bed... Those who are just starting their day, have a great day ahead and stay safe! *hugs*

ranty post

I know that some people can't help falling asleep when riding a public transportation. I don't really care if they snore or something. But when you're twice my size and weight and a guy... that's when I draw the line! Lie on your seat, snore, whatever! But don't effin lean on me as if i'm your effin pillow! And don't look at me as if i'm the meanest person on earth if I shove you back to your seat because my shoulder's starting to ache from the pressure of your weight you moron!Ugh! This is the part I hate the most when I ride public vehicles. I mean, we all get tired, but really... A little consideration towards other passengers won't hurt.Sorry about this, but that guy really pissed me off! Okay, rant done. How's everyone?

Eat all day...

I think all I did today was eat... No wonder i'm gaining weight lol!

Long day ahead...

Meeting friends, mailing some postcards then work at night. I can just imagine how tired i'll be when I report to work later.

Wish me luck!

Nighty night

Playing with this app I downloaded. Really cool as it allows me to update my blogsites simultaneously.

Tired now. Off to lalaland.

Night everyone!

Fun and birthday greetings...

Time flies when you're having fun! I can't believe it's already Wednesday and my fave Nsync member's birthday! Happy birthday Lance Bass!
