Foodie Review: Clawdaddy SM Mall of Asia

I got curious when I saw their promo on Metrodeal so I bought two vouchers worth 1k each for half the price. Reservation was a bit difficult because no one was answering their listed landline. A quick google search gave me their FB page where they wrote an alternative CP number because their landline was broken or something.

Reservation was fast and easy after I got the correct number. A little suggestion though, please change the number to call in your promo vouchers as well if it's not too much to ask. Thank you.

Now on to the place. The place is huge, I kinda liked the area they placed us because the music's not too loud, but our table was a little cramped for three people who ordered six different dishes. Given the size of their plates, I think my parents and I were kind of subconciously eating fast because we were worried where they would be placing the other dishes. But I guess the crew knew that the waiting time for each dish or two would be long so they weren't as worried as we were. I'll probably keep that in mind next time.

On the service, it was a bit slow compared to other restaurants in SM MOA i've been to. It was probably due to the large crowd eating in our area or they were understaffed. As i've mentioned earlier, the waiting time for one or two dishes that we ordered took around 10 to 15 minutes. They don't give suggestions as to what would be good to try on their menu. I would have loved to try what their bestsellers were.

We ordered 6 dishes: Clam Chowder Soup, Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing, Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce, Grilled Veggie Pizza, Kansas City Ribs and Blackened Salmon.

Clam Chowder Soup (P165)
Clam Chowder Soup (P165) - It was tasty and plus points that it was served hot (not lukewarm as other restaurants do when it's peak hours), just right for the chilly weather. I was so glad we all opted to have an order each, or i'd be more than likely eyeing my parents' soup bowls because the waitress said it was big enough for two. Negative points were it was served on a soup bowl instead of the bread bowl that the menu described it would be.

Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing (P385)
Ashi Tuna Salad for sharing (P385) - The serving said it was good for 3 to 4 persons, but in my opinion it was good enough for 5 to 6 people to share - if they didn't like greens. The sweet basil vignairette was a great complement to the sweet mango bits, cruotons, tomatoes and romaine lettuce. The tuna was a little bland and had a rubbery texture - might be a little overcooked. I only wish that they poured more vignairette on it, then it would have been perfect.

Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce (P195)

Breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce (P195) - You could never go wrong with chesse, especially with something as tasty as mozarella - until you envelope it in too much bland breading that overpowers the cheesy filling. I was looking forward to this dish the most as I love cheese, but sadly this disappointed me.

Grilled Veggie Pizza (P295 or P285, can't remember, sorry!)
Grilled Veggie Pizza (P295 or P285, can't remember, sorry!) - It didn't taste like eating veggies on a thin crust pizza dough at all! Enough said, this was a definite win for me

Kansas City Ribs (P335)
Kansas City Ribs (P335) - Served with chili (that's what my Dad said) java rice and slightly sour coleslaw (according to my parents). The serving size was huge, I ended up picking some meat off my Dad's plate. The meat was tender, juicy, tasty and melts in the mouth. This made me look forward to ordering their Signature Baby Back Ribs on my next visit.

Blackened Salmon (P495)
Blackened Salmon (P495) - Served with a side dish of Caesar Salad and lemon/olive oil dip (from what it looks like, it's yellow and I could smell/taste the olive oil, not the lemon though, it wasn't sour at all). The first thing I noticed was that the plate was huge but the salmon took up little space. I should not have trusted the pic on the menu. It was worth the price though because the salmon was mildly salted and grilled to perfection. It wasn't rubbery at all, it was juicy and tender. The Caesar salad was a great side dish, just the right amount of sourness from the dressing and saltiness from the bacon to wash away the salmon's aftertaste. I only wish the salmon slice was bigger.

Overall, it was an okay experience. The price might not be within the regular average joe's daily food spending budget but it'll be money spent on good food when you feel like discovering a new food establishment to bond with your friends and family with.

Or a restaurant to go to for that monthly date. ;)
